18 May 2021
Dear Year 3 OP students
With effect from Wednesday, 19 May, we will shift to Full Home-Based Learning (FHBL) till Friday, 4 June. Do take note that Week 11 (1 June to 4 June) is not an additional week as we started the academic year 2021 later in Week 2 of Term 1.
2. With the implementation of FHBL, there will be impact on the following:
a) Time-table for HBL
For this week (19 - 21 May), you will follow the current time-table for your FHBL lessons.
A new time-table will take effect from Monday, 24 May until Friday, 4 June 2021.
Weekly lesson plans will be sent to you and your parents. This will provide an overview of the lessons that will be conducted for the week. You will in turn be better prepared for the lessons.
Asynchronous Blended Learning lessons (bi-weekly Blended Lessons held every alternate week) will proceed as planned this Wednesday, 19 May 2021. However, for the subsequent days of FHBL, you will follow the time-table as your teachers will be conducting synchronous lessons.
There is no lesson on 31 May 2021 as it is an O Level MTL Examination day.
b) Review of the Term 2 Common Test Papers
The review of the Term 2 Common Test will continue during FHBL as it is important for you to know your areas for improvement and be better equipped to revise during the June Holiday. You are expected to take the review seriously.
Some of your subject tutors have started or completed the review of the Common Test Papers. For subjects that do not have lessons these two days, teachers will either return the marked scripts on Tuesday, 18 May 2021. The remaining unreturned scripts will be scanned and sent to you via email.
c) Results-slip and PTM
The school will release the Year 3 Common Test results online on Thursday, 3 June 2021. This will allow you and your parents to have an overview of your performance for the Term 2 Common Test.
For this term, you and your parents will also receive the qualitative subject report from your subject tutors.
You will be issued with the final official results-slip when you return in Term 3.
The Parent-Teachers Meeting will still take place on Thursday, 3 June 2021 via Zoom Meeting. You are expected to attend the PTM together with your parents.
d) English Language Oral Examination
The Y3 English Language Oral Examination will proceed as planned. The original schedule will be followed (Please refer to the level website). The examinations will commence at 3 p.m. on 20 May and 2.30 p.m. on 24, 25 and 27 May.
The format will be adjusted without compromising the skills tested.
You will be briefed by your English Language teachers on the format and administration details. The examination will be conducted via Zoom.
e) Lasallian Leadership Training for Year 3 students
Selected students will be identified to attend the training based on their appointment to key leadership roles in the school.
The training will be held on 10 and 11 June on the virtual platform and will last about 3 hours each day.
3. Support for our students during FHBL and June Holidays
The school will continue to support the needs of the different groups of students.
You are expected to log onto Google Meet or Zoom for Morning Contact time with your Form Tutor. These sessions will allow your Form Tutors to monitor and care for your well-being.
Selected students will be required to report to school during HBL to better support your learning environment
4. Expectation of FHBL
Be punctual for your lessons.
Keep the camera on your device on at all times during the lesson.
Should the lesson be conducted through a Video Conferencing Platform, mute the microphone unless instructed otherwise by the teacher.
Be appropriately attired. You should be in the Casual Friday Polo-Shirt or the school PE/Fraternity T-Shirt.
Politely ask your family for privacy (as best as they can).
Be fully present during your online lesson. DO NOT engage in other activities, online or otherwise.
Un-mute the microphone when the teacher invites you to speak/answer a question. Do take turns to speak when you are invited to do so.
Be focused and complete the given tasks within the allocated time.
Sit upright and find yourself an appropriate place in your house to attend the online lesson (not on the bed)
Be respectful and maintain discipline at all times. Focus on the lesson and don’t be distracted by other personal activities.
Express gratitude to your teacher at the end of the lesson.
Observe proper decorum and social media etiquette e.g. do not screenshot the videos of tutors teaching and edit them inappropriately and subsequently post them on any social media platforms.
5. We trust that you will conduct yourself well for the FHBL and will take the FHBL lessons seriously. The school would like to wish you a meaningful Full Home-Based Learning experience.
Ora et Labora!
